SKETCHES
The studio wanted to focus on a few major themes for the final season of What We Do In The Shadows trailer: Vampire world domination(the long-time stated goal of the gang), Guillermo’s move out of the house(and into the shed behind the house) and Lazlo’s quest to create a “cadaver body”(he’s never heard of Frankenstein). Below are rough sketches of concepts I came up with playing off some of those storylines.

Electro-bat
This concept is based on the “cadaver body” storyline—a bat hangs off a weathervane atop the gang’s Staten Island house. Lightning hits the vane(and the bat) traveling down the metal to reach the cadaver in the basement who awakens at the jolt.

Raising The Vampire Flag
A spoof of the famous monument of raising the flag at Iwo Jima, this concept focuses on the world domination theme. Using the style of soviet-era propaganda-posters, the gang is seemingly raising the vampire flag after their conquest of humanity—as we pan out, they haven’t actually left their backyard.

World Bite
Another concept on vampire world domination which deflates.

REFINED SKETCHES
From the initial round, 2 concepts were chosen for further refinement. The idea of using a soviet-style propaganda poster fused with a trippy blacklight poster seemed like an interesting approach.

Raising The Vampire Flag(refined)
A more polished version of the sketch that combines the blacklight poster idea. I also threw in some easter eggs from the show.

Guillermo Leading The Troops(refined)
The idea of the blacklight poster incorporated into this idea as well. Blacklight off, Guillermo stands confidently—blacklight on reveals as less-than-confident Gulliermo with his infamous toilet bucket.
